Free Responsible Timber Sourcing Webinar for Specifiers – 10th June 2020

05-05-2020

Timber has increasing appeal for architects, designers and others who specify materials for construction projects. Specifiers can now learn more about responsible timber procurement and Chain of Custody certification through our fully-accredited CPD. To date, the CPD has been delivered to more than 500 architects, engineers, contractors and clients and feedback has been very positive.
However, in the current business climate, we have decided to offer our popular CPD on-line. The hour-long webinar will take place on Wednesday 10th June and will start at 1pm. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to all participants.

Why You Need to Know about Responsible Timber Sourcing?

Using timber from well-managed forests that meet internationally recognised standards of legality and sustainability, certified by organisations such as PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification) is a pre-requisite for environmental assessment schemes such as BREEAM, LEED and Ska, as well as many others around the world.
Green building standards, together with public and private sector sourcing policies, are increasingly driving demand for responsibly-sourced timber. To meet client expectations, it is therefore important that designers and specifiers insist on certified timber for their projects, along with full Chain of Custody.

What you will learn from this webinar:

• The background to forest certification and its global importanceCpd 3 Medium
• The UK timber market and drivers for certified timber
• Certification schemes and the requirements of the UK government’s timber procurement policy
• What a model timber specification clause looks like
• How Chain of Custody certification works and the vital information you need to see.
The webinar will be presented by Charlie Law, Managing Director of Sustainable Construction Solutions, who has over 30 years’ experience in the construction sector, and extensive industry knowledge having worked for BAM, Kier and Lendlease. He is also a Director at the Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA), a member of the Grown in Britain Executive and a member of the Ska Technical Committee.
