Pepe Garden Furniture produce original ergonomic designs of outdoor furniture using sustainable timber with many products having a motion element. Wooden garden furniture is inherently more environmentally friendly than plastics or other materials that either require more processing at the manufacture stage or are less easy to dispose of at the end of their life. Pepe wooden furniture is made of timber from sustainable sources – further minimising its effect on the environment.
Pepe is a family operation which designs and retails outdoor furniture using sustainable PEFC-certified, pressure treated Scandinavian Redwood to form solidly made and ergonomically shaped pieces. Scandinavian Redwood from Finland is much denser than UK or other temperate grown regions which gives a closer grain letting less moisture into the timber which makes the product last longer. The construction for seating is made using closed mortice joint-work unlike many other manufacturers who use half butt joints or no joints at all.
The British family firm spans two generations and employs a team who see themselves as passionate about what they make, how they operate and how they treat their customers. “We have strong connections to Scandinavia and many of design concepts follow examples of furniture made over the centuries from that area,” says Managing Director, Charlie Edmondson. “We try to make designs that have a sociable context either for family or friends or carers with patients. The idea of sitting together and enjoying time and space is an important concept and difficult to achieve in a busy world. Our established and well received range of wooden garden furniture and patio furniture includes two and three seater garden swings (or hammocks), table and chair sets. We also supply a number of other items including sun bed, rocking chairs and rocking lounger and benches.”
For 2017 the new Serena Swing Bed has been launched. This is a relaxing garden bed where family or friends can face towards each other. The hope is that the application may be used for the care industry and will help with sensory disabilities such as autism as the moving nature of the product has a calming effect. This product is designed to be left outside all year with minimal ongoing maintenance. Pepe Garden Furniture have also been awarded an Ergonomic Excellence award by the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA).
