Earlier in 2019 PEFC-certified member Cheshire Mouldings and Woodturnings was recognised in the London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ 2019 report. The annual report is a celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized businesses, with companies representing over 40 sectors and spanning every country and region across the UK.

It was the fourth time that Cheshire Mouldings had been listed in this prestigious report. To be selected for the list, companies have to demonstrate positive revenue growth over the past three years in addition to outperforming other companies in their sector. The result is a unique and varied list of the UK’s most dynamic companies.
Established in 1988, the St Helens-based company manufactures mouldings, stair parts and decking accessories from PEFC-certified timber sourced from Finland.
Cheshire Mouldings has long recognised the importance of sourcing certified timber and the role that third-party verification plays in ensuring timber comes from legal and well-managed forests. “We have always used certified material and opted to become PEFC-certified around 15 years ago,” says Jacquie Capper, National Sales Manager. “We are also EUTR compliant and hold the Timber Decking & Cladding Association (TDCA) DeckMark Plus accreditation. We have hosted visits from Finnish forest owners and they were very excited to learn and understand how their trees were being processed and to see the finished product ready for despatch to our network of merchants and stockists.”
Cheshire Mouldings machine around 35-45,000m of inbound board a day in its mouldings mill and are the only manufacturer of small-section mouldings in the UK. Its stairparts mill has the capacity to turn 40,000 turned spindles per week and around 10,000 newel posts with added capacity for stop chamfered and joinery blanks. As well as manufacturing mouldings and stairparts and decking accessories they also stock and distribute a number of different timber products including flooring, doors, porches, pine boards and sheet material to the trade. The company is targeting a turnover of £39.5 million this year.
